Living With Intent: What if you fly?

I’m a notorious dreamer. I tend to think out loud about my goals and ideas, both short and long term. It’s easy for me conjure an idea and know exactly where the destination looks like, but often I fall short on the journey to get there. I’d be lying if I told you that I didn’t know how to reach the destination. That’s the easy part, it’s the fulfillment of one of my ideas that scares the hell out of me.  Imposter syndrome is real, and it kicks it quick for me, so quick that immediate thoughts mid-execution almost always go to “There’s no way!” or “What if this works?” Over the years, these are just some of the thoughts I’ve had whenever I have an idea or set goals. There’s also the feeling of being unworthy.  Sucks, right?

Lately, though, I’ve had the attitude of “Why not?” Why not me? Why not now? Who says I can’t have? WHO? Somewhere along the way I decided it was okay to walk too close to the edge, because what if I walk too close and BOOM, I fly? What if I just try? If I allow myself to go all in and see where it goes. Then one day I did. I realized that I had to want it more than I was afraid of it.

As simple as it sounds, you’ll never know if you don’t try. What if I fall? Oh, but my darling, what if you fly? Word to Erin Hanson.

Challenge yourself to do one thing that scares you. Face whatever it is that’s holding your back from what you want. Feel the fear, and do it anyway.

❤, Toni
