Living with Intent: Drink More Water

This weekend was hot AF, so I shouldn’t have to tell you to stay hydrated. But, in the event that I do — DRINK MORE WATER!

Beyond Mother Nature’s revenge aka this current heatwave, drinking more water will change your game. It’s recommended that we drink 64 ounces (aka 8 cups) or one gallon of water a day. That’s a little over 3 “regular” sized bottles of water (20 ounces). Sounds like a lot, but there’s 8 hours in a day — make it work. In fact, by the time your body signals that you’re thirsty, you’re already dehydrated. It’s best to have water handy at all times so you can sip throughout the day before actually getting thirsty. Although conflicting studies have shown that drinking half of your body weight in water is a for sure way to stay hydrated. I’m sure you can’t go wrong with getting in a minimum of a gallon a day. If this heatwave has you throwing back water like Birthday shots of tequila, consider it a great thing. Water quenches your skin’s thirst, promotes healthy liver function (just in case those shots you threw back were actually tequila), as well as making bowel movements easier to release. If none of these are reason enough for you to push yourself to drink more water consider this: if you drink a gallon of water every day, you’ll have less time for drama & negative people because you’ll be too busy peeing.
