Cheers to 2020
New year, who dis?
The pressure to create a list of new year resolutions is well… a pain in the ass. As if we don’t already have enough to deal with this time of year, from winter blues to the nuisance of cold weather and now new year resolutions? Trust me, I know exactly how you feel. Which is why I prefer to review and reset my goals in the Fall. But if your end of fall/beginning of winter was anything like mine (busy!), you may not have taken the time to reset your goals, let alone write them down. And since we’re all a little behind the eight ball, I thought now would be a good time to inspire you to get some things written down that will set you in the right direction for 2020. We all need direction, a clear idea of what we’re working towards at any given time. Some say they’re spontaneous and free spirited but even those people need an idea of which direction they’re going on this journey.
In writing down your goals, it’s important to be realistic. If becoming a millionaire is a priority for you, it’s time to start on a plan to generate several sources of income. What are some ways that, over time, you can generate enough wealth to become a millionaire? Add a few of those to your list. If you want to buy a home this year, now’s the time to clean up your credit and cease spending. Find out your credit score and what blemishes you can clean up to boost your score. What debt can you settle or set up a payment agreement for? All of these things will be important before you can even be considered for a mortgage. Next, you’ll want to remember to write your goals in present tense – i.e., I AM purchasing a home this year. I AM running 3 times a week. I AM only eating out once a week. Writing them this way makes them feel real. As if you are already in the habit of doing those things. You sort of have to trick you mind into forming a habit that hasn’t actually occurred yet, ya know “fake til you make it”.
All in all, The Sibs encourage you to focus in on your goals. We hope you are as motivated as we are to have a great year and to look back in a few months and later in the year and see those goals being fulfilled. You are capable of working hard and making it happen. We believe in you! And as one of our favorite philosophers once said, “Keep runnin’ cause a winner don’t quit on themselves!” -Beyonce the Great
