Living with Intent: Be grateful

What a privilege it is to wake up, smell the coffee, and be grateful!

If you’re reading this, you’re alive! Your eyes still have the gift of sight. Your lungs are still filling with oxygen. And that alone is enough to be grateful for.
We have a human tendency to complain about the things we lack, missing the opportunity to give thanks for what we do have. We are moved by inspiring stories, movies and music almost daily. But often don’t apply our thanks and appreciation to our own lives.

As a writer at heart, it comes naturally to me to keep a journal. A daily account of my life in recap. I jot down quotes and thoughts and ideas as they come. Its also a great way to wind down at the end of the day. But most of all, it has become a way to remind myself what I am most grateful for. After listening to “What I know for sure”, the audio version of Oprah Winfrey’s book, I was inspired to keep a ledger of gratitude. Lady O spoke about understanding how each day begins with a grateful heart and how writing down five things she is grateful for each day, has made her able to also complain less.

So this week The Sibs challenge you to be grateful. To give thanks for what you have and try again tomorrow for what you want more of. Each day this week, take a few minutes to write down what makes you so grateful. Even if it’s the air in your lungs or a warm place to sleep at night, write it down. At the end of the week, you should have over 30 things on your list. That’s alot of gratitude!
